“The Translation of Your Life”
There is science that claims when someone has trauma, in their past, it alters their brain in ways that take tremendous effort to heal. On May 21, 2025 I was conducting a workshop. In an unplanned way, to illustrate a point I was making, I brought up how I used to respond to aggression with aggression. My audience did not know that I realized, in that moment, that I had much later in life (on purpose) “rewired” my brain to not respond in ways that I have done in the past.
Many people have a very narrow “wave-length” how they “see the world.” Most people can only see through our eyes and translate what we see (and hear) by what we have experienced. They form “patterns” based on what they have observed, made assumptions based on their “mental-short-cuts” and translated that data into their “reality” that became “non-negotiable-beliefs.”
What if, instead, people “get-out-of-their-own-head” and see from outside of their knowledge and experiences? Our traditional understanding of everything is shaped by our tribe. Many people have lived going in a non-stop-circle regurgitating the knowledge and beliefs their tribes.
What if our tribe has been wrong? What if our tribe’s knowledge and beliefs were based on what is not true and, yet, we grew up to adopt that knowledge and beliefs as our own.
What if you decided, on a consistent basis, to go “out-of-your-mind” in order to understand what you never understood? Wait !?!? What!?!?!
What if the information you need, to live your best life, is outside of your current knowledge and experiences? What if that information is all around you but you cannot see it because you were “trained” to ignore certain “senses” that might make that information visible to you? If you view your brain as “local” you will not perceive what is “non-local.”
In an amazing way your brain is able to obtain neuroplasticity (The brain's ability to change and adapt, both at the local level (strengthening connections within a specific area) and non-locally (altering the overall network of connections) by way of new information.
In Shad Helmstetters book “The Power of Neuroplasticity” he writes: “Your brain grows and changes based on feedback. What you tell it, changes it. And while it’s rewiring itself, your brain then feeds those new programs, those new pictures of yourself, back to you. It’s a feedback “loop.” What you put in, you get back out, in a continuous “neural activity feedback loop.”
Author Daniel J. Siegel shared: “Where attention goes, neural firing flows, and neural connection grows.”
Imagine your brain as a trail-covered forest. The more you walk one path, the clearer it becomes. But if that path leads to fear, anger, or despair, you have the power to blaze a new trail. Yes, at first it’s hard. But walk it enough times, and it becomes your new way of being.
What if you understood that the translation of your life, in many ways, is interpreted by you and you can change that interpretation…but it can be really painful? Think of your brain as a GPS (Global Positioning System). You can reroute it when you decide to set a new destination.
You have the power to “rewire” your brain and that creates an entirely new life for you.
I Believe in YOU!
