“Accessing the Power”
Plugging into the wrong kind of “power” can be painful.
In most rooms/homes, in America, are electrical outlets. Those outlets are ultimately connected to a much higher level of electricity. The electricity that enters our homes leverages “step-down transformers” that are strategically placed in substations near the end of the distribution grid to ensure safe and efficient delivery to homes.
Many decades ago, before I was five years old and for some stupid reason, I took a kitchen “utensil” and put it into a plug in our home at 2424 Harriet Avenue in Baltimore Maryland. As you might guess, I “felt the power” and was electrocuted at that moment. The plug was not designed to receive/leverage such a “utensil.” The result of my ignorance was getting shocked.
Have you ever turned on an appliance or some other electrical device and got frustrated because it did not turn on only to discover that the appliance or device was not plugged in?
Have you ever reached for your phone, in the morning, only to realize that it was not plugged in over night or not completely plugged in and the battery was dead?
There was a time when I noticed that an appliance, in our home, wasn’t working. I found myself getting irritated until I discovered that someone accidentally turned off the power strip that the appliance was plugged into. Once I turned the power strip back on the appliance “magically” started working again. Someone “stopped the flow” of power.
Years ago, my wife and I travelled overseas several times. Our plugs, for our phone charger and laptops, would not work because those countries have different electrical systems. We knew this before we left for overseas and bought “Universal Travel Adapters Plugs” to be able to connect to the foreign countries electrical grid without being electrocuted. We were not frustrated because we learned how to adjust and leverage the power source.
There are many moments when a lot of us crave the power that we need to get through life and get so frustrated when life “goes sideways.”
Many millions of people seem to be trying to get through life being “plugged into” a source or no source at all that is not, and has not been, supplying the consistent power to excel in life in an ethical and transformative way.
Being able to access the power that is available to you begins with admitting consistently that “you know that you don’t know” but you “want to know.” This is a foreign concept to so many people who go through their entire lives without even comprehending that there are sources of power that can transform (intentional word here) their lives for the better.
When you, ignorantly or on purpose, allow yourself to be “plugged-in” sources that drain your “internal batteries” or offer no power at all you are faced with a decision. You can either find another source of power that works or continue living a “drained” and painful life…for the rest of our life.
You do not have go through life like a puppet being controlled by sources of power that are hurting you.
Leveraging the right kind of power that can transform your life is all around you. It’s in some of the people you meet and the books you read that teaches you wisdom that gives you consistent power.
Wisdom = Power
What you're plugged into determines what flows out of you. If you're connected to wisdom, grace, truth, and love, your life becomes a light source to others. If you're tapped into insecurity, ego, or bitterness, the circuit gets fried. Take the time to trace your cords. Unplug from what depletes. Reconnect to what transforms.
